OUR HISTORY
Celebrating 14 Years of Excellence
For fourteen years, Girls With Pearls has remained dedicated to cultivating confidence, discipline, and leadership in girls through intentional mentorship and high standards. Founded by Dr. Kamika Lynette Bell, the organization was established to create structured spaces where girls are affirmed, challenged, and prepared to lead with integrity and purpose.

Girls With Pearls is grounded in the belief that growth requires time, refinement, and care. The organization’s name reflects this philosophy, drawing from the symbolism of pearls—formed through pressure and patience—mirroring the developmental journey of the girls served as they mature academically, socially, emotionally, and culturally.

A cornerstone of the program is the Girls With Pearls Gala, an annual celebration where participants are formally showcased and recognized for their achievements, leadership development, academic progress, service, and personal growth. The Gala serves as a visible affirmation of the girls’ dedication and the program’s commitment to excellence, offering a dignified space where their efforts are honored and celebrated.

In 2018, Dr. Bell expanded her leadership work through pageantry by acquiring the Miss Delaware International Pageant franchise. This milestone extended her influence in leadership and personal development, allowing her to mentor and crown young girls who have gone on to compete at the Miss Teen and Pre-Teen International Pageants held in Charleston, West Virginia. Many of these titleholders are proud alumni of the Girls With Pearls program, reflecting the strong alignment between pageantry, mentorship, and leadership development.

Through Girls With Pearls, Dr. Bell has also crowned two Miss Girls With Pearls titleholders and a Miss Cover Girl, further reinforcing her commitment to cultivating confidence, excellence, and leadership rooted in service. These opportunities provide girls with platforms to strengthen their public presence, self-discipline, and responsibility while representing the values of the organization.

Over the past fourteen years, Girls With Pearls has mentored more than one hundred girls and their families through structured workshops, enrichment experiences, cultural exposure, service initiatives, and travel-based learning opportunities, including international engagement in South Africa. Each experience is intentionally designed to reinforce accountability, etiquette, leadership, and respect for self and others.
Today, Girls With Pearls continues to thrive as a mentorship organization grounded in integrity, consistency, and excellence. Under Dr. Bell’s leadership, the program remains committed to celebrating the accomplishments of girls while preparing them to lead with confidence, character, and purpose in every space they enter.
